Ultimate Zone Rating
Runs saved on defense from zone-by-zone play data.
What it actually is. Ultimate zone rating: an older defensive metric estimating runs saved through range, arm and sure hands, using zone-by-zone batted ball data.
What a scout reads off it. Largely superseded by tracking-based measures but still in wide use, and useful for the years before tracking existed. Different systems can disagree sharply on the same player, and when they do the answer is that nobody is sure.
