Sprint Speed
Feet per second in a runner's fastest one-second window.
What it actually is. A runner's top speed in feet per second, taken from his fastest one-second window on his hardest runs.
What a scout reads off it. The objective replacement for the old scouting grade, and it feeds directly into defensive range. Speed ages out earlier and more predictably than any other tool, so a falling number is one of the first honest signs that a player is losing a step.
Where the lines are. About 27 feet per second is average, 30 and up is elite, under 25 is slow.
