Skill Interactive ERA
An ERA estimate from strikeouts, walks and the kind of contact allowed.
What it actually is. Skill interactive earned run average: a pitching estimator that adds the kind of contact allowed, ground balls and fly balls and popups, to the strikeouts and walks.
What a scout reads off it. It is the estimator that takes seriously that a ground ball pitcher and a fly ball pitcher with identical strikeout and walk numbers are not the same pitcher. It is the least intuitive of the three and usually the most predictive.
