Pop Time
Seconds from the catch to the fielder's glove on a throw to second.
What it actually is. How long it takes a catcher to get the ball from his mitt to second base, glove to glove, in seconds.
What a scout reads off it. It is arm strength and footwork and transfer all in one, and it is the first number scouts quote about a catcher. Transfer is the coachable part and the part that separates two catchers with the same arm.
Where the lines are. Around 2.0 seconds is elite, 2.0 to 2.1 is very good, and much above that lets teams run at will.
