Hard Hit Rate
Share of batted balls hit 95 mph or harder.
What it actually is. The share of batted balls hit at 95 miles per hour or more.
What a scout reads off it. A broader and steadier version of barrel rate. It ignores angle entirely, which makes it the better number for a young hitter whose swing is still being built: hit it hard first, learn where to hit it later.
