Fielding Run Value
Fielding run value: every defensive skill turned into runs.
What it actually is. Fielding run value: outs above average converted into runs, so defense sits on the same scale as hitting.
What a scout reads off it. The translation step that lets a glove be compared with a bat. Once defense is in runs, it can go into wins above replacement alongside everything else, which is the only way to answer whether a great shortstop is worth more than a good first baseman.
