Complete Game
The starter pitches the whole game.
What it actually is. The starter pitched the whole game.
What a scout reads off it. A complete game count is a measure of the era more than of the pitcher. Bullpens are better than they were, the third time through the order is understood as a real penalty, and a manager who leaves a starter in to finish now is usually making a choice about tomorrow rather than about tonight.
Where the lines are. Cy Young completed 749 games. A modern league leader might have two or three.
