2009 College World Series
LSU over Texas at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium.
What happened. LSU won the 2009 College World Series, beating Texas in the final, under Paul Mainieri. It was played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, Omaha.
Where it sits. The 6th of 8 for LSU. Their previous title was 9 years earlier, in 2000. Texas had already won 6 of them, most recently in 2005, and has not won one since.
What the tournament looked like that year. Same path, but the championship becomes a best-of-three series. That format ran from 2003 through present.
The ballpark. Sixty-one tournaments. The reason Omaha means what it means.
