1997 College World Series
LSU over Alabama at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium.
What happened. LSU won the 1997 College World Series, beating Alabama in the final, under Skip Bertman. It was played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, Omaha.
Where it sits. The 4th of 8 for LSU. Back to back: they had won it the year before as well. Alabama has never won one. Reaching the final is as close as that program has come.
What the tournament looked like that year. Two four-team double elimination brackets, the winners meeting in a single championship game. That format ran from 1988 through 1998.
The ballpark. Sixty-one tournaments. The reason Omaha means what it means.
