1984 College World Series
Cal State Fullerton over Texas at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium.
What happened. Cal State Fullerton won the 1984 College World Series, beating Texas in the final, under Augie Garrido. It was played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, Omaha.
Where it sits. The 2nd of 4 for Cal State Fullerton. Their previous title was 5 years earlier, in 1979. Texas lost this one and won its own in 2002.
What the tournament looked like that year. Eight teams, one pure double elimination bracket. The classic Rosenblatt format. That format ran from 1950 through 1987.
The ballpark. Sixty-one tournaments. The reason Omaha means what it means.
