Easton Hype Fire
Two-Piece Composite, Balanced, $449.99
What it is. A 2027 BBCOR bat from Easton: Two-Piece Composite, Thermo Composite Barrel. Certified to the same cap as every other bat on this page, legal in college and high school baseball.
What the scorecard says. Barrel is where it wins: 2nd of 50. Value is where it gives ground, 46th of 50. Balanced, which is where most of the market sits and where most college hitters end up. A composite barrel needs a few hundred swings before it plays the way it will play, and it should not be swung below sixty degrees. In February in the north that is a real constraint rather than a note. Easton would not confirm the 2027 paint, so this is drawn in the Hype Fire's established fire scheme rather than a colorway this site can stand behind.
What the stamp does and does not promise. A cap on the barrel, not a measure of the bat. How much energy the barrel wall gives back to the ball. Not exit speed, which is what the old BESR standard measured. The bats do not hit differently. You are choosing a feel, not a speed. More than 10,000 swings, 189 players, the top 21 Division I programs, 46 models across six brands. found no consistent relationship between exit speed and swing weight, scale weight, balance point, construction or bat age.
Swing weight, which is the thing that actually differs. Two bats can both weigh 31 ounces and swing nothing alike. Put the mass out in the barrel and it swings heavy; pull it back toward the hands and it swings light. This is the physical quantity behind the words balanced and end-loaded.
Who it is for. You are late on good fastballs: Bat speed is your problem and swing weight is the only thing on this page that changes it. You mishit a lot and you feel every one: This is exactly what a connection system and a composite barrel are for.
